Book Week: Reading Is Our Superpower at Holy Spirt
The school came alive with colour and imagination during the annual Book Character Parade.
Students from every year level dressed up as their favourite literary heroes and villains, filling the playground with a cast straight from the pages of well-loved stories.
There were glittering stars from magical adventures, brave witches casting spells, and a cast of Harry Potters complete with lightning scars and wands at the ready.
The staff joined in the celebration of books, with a salute to Dr. Suess.

The excitement grew as each class marched proudly, showcasing characters both classic and modern. Sherlock Holmes strolled with his magnifying glass in hand, while fairy-tale figures waved to the crowd.

Teachers and parents were thrilled, as the parade reminded everyone of the joy and creativity that books inspire. It was not just a celebration of costumes, but of reading itself, the stories that capture imaginations and bring people together.
Not even the Grinch himself could steal the fun and excitement!

⚽ School Lunchtime Activities ⚽
Hello parents and carers,
Isabelle in year five started playing soccer for a club recently and had a lightbulb moment….to have a soccer tournament at Holy Spirit.
The goal was to see if she could organise a whole tournament and get a different perspective on soccer.
She knew she would need help and called on her good friends Lucy and Nektarios to help organise and run the games.
There have been five teams competing on Tuesdays and Fridays at lunchtime. It has been a huge success as teams have been giving it a good try and improving their skills throughout the tournament.
The finals are due for Term 4 Week 2.
Thanks to everyone that signed up. We hope you are enjoying it.
Isabelle, Lucy and Nektarios.

Scholastic Book Club Volunteer Needed
Emma Maguire, Liv in Year 6’s mum, has been organising the Scholastic Book Club for the last few years. As Liv will be moving on to secondary school next year and Emma will no longer have children at Holy Spirit, we are looking for a volunteer to take over. If you are interested, please let the office staff know so that Emma can show you what’s involved during the last editions for 2025.

Join Our Earthcare Group
We are thrilled to announce the formation of an Earthcare Group for the four churches of our Mission, approved by the Parish Leadership Team. Earthcare, managed by Caritas under the authority of the Australian Bishops, is dedicated to fostering environmental stewardship in response to Pope Francis’ 2015 letter, “Laudato Si: Care of Our Common Home.” This inspiring letter emphasizes the importance of caring for our natural environment, supporting the poor and marginalized, and exploring the profound relationship between God, humans, and the Earth.
Our Earthcare Group will follow the seven goals outlined in the Laudato Si Action Platform, providing clear direction for our parish communities to achieve these meaningful objectives. If you are passionate about protecting our local environment and enjoy hands-on activities, we invite you to join us!
- Information Night: Thursday, 11th September
- Location: Holy Spirit Church (back area)
- ⏰ Time: 7:00PM
Speakers from Ivanhoe parish will share their experiences and insights on how their Earthcare Group operates. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, make a difference, and engage in outdoor activities that your children can also participate in.
Please RSVP to the parish office at 9484 2907.
We look forward to seeing you there and working together to care for our common home! ✨
