Holy Spirit Thornbury-Math Distinction

What is the Australian Maths Trust Challenge?

Maths Challenge is a national problem solving competition, run by the Australian Maths Trust.

Over a period of a month the students who entered were required to complete a set of four challenging problems.

The problems need mathematical knowledge, plenty of careful thought, patience, perseverance and problem solving skills.

This year 27 students from years four to six participated in this Challenge.

They all put in a great effort and were rewarded with their certificates from the Australian Maths Trust at assembly this week.

What are the cut-off scores for awards?

The cut-off scores for awards in the Middle and Upper Primary divisions are:

Proficiency: 6 – 9 marks
Credit: 10 – 13 marks
Distinction: 14 – 16 marks

100% of Our Year 6 Entries Earn a Distinction

Out of the eleven Year Six students who entered the Maths Challenge, all eleven earned distinctions.

Well done to all that entered the challenge!
