A Big Holy Spirit Welcome to Our New Teachers!

New Teachers 1024x576
Welcome Beck and Lucy!

Over the coming weeks we will be welcoming two new teachers to our staff at Holy Spirit.

It is exciting to have some new faces in our school and we are really looking forward to sharing our continuing learning journey with both Beck Yoda and Lucy McNaughton.

Lucy will be replacing Meeka Smith when she moves to New South Wales in a few weeks time. It is great that Lucy is able to be in our school now, getting to know the children and making sure that we have a smooth transition for the class.

Beck will be replacing Meeka in her STEM specialist role in a few weeks as well.

Beck is well placed to continue the excitement of the STEM program and is currently dropping in to plan and get to know us. We are positive that the children will really enjoy the things that are in store for them in STEM. Beck will be taking all classes throughout the school in this Specialist
area.

Middle School Ahoy! A Day on the Polly Woodside

The Polly Woodside is a ship used to carry coal and wool, it was built in 1885 in Belfast Ireland.

Some of the jobs: for the captain, is to be in charge of the ship; for the navigator, he has to check for danger; for the ship’s boy, to scrub the decks and much more!

When I first arrived I was scared but also excited. I saw lots of ropes and lots of darkness and a huge anchor. We even saw poo in a bucket. It was disgusting but it was so fun!

The Polly Woodside is a ship built in 1885 in Belfast, Ireland.

It was used to carry coal and wool around the world. When I saw Polly Woodside I was really surprised how big it was because I thought it would be small.

Did you know  it sailed a million miles? Also, I saw big sails and lots of patterns on the ship. The captain is in charge, the cook makes food for everyone, the sailors climb up ropes and work with deckhands to help unload cargo.

One Goal at a Time for Holy Spirit Girls Soccer – Now It’s Division!

Holy Spirit Girls Soccer at Division
Girls’ Soccer Team at Division

Our Holy Spirit Girls’ Soccer team played three tough division matches and, while the results didn’t go our way (three close losses), the growth from Game 1 to Game 3 was outstanding.

The girls lifted their work rate, tightened their defence, and moved the ball with more confidence; so much so that we were unlucky not to snag a draw in the final game.

A special thank you to John (Niamh’s dad) for his time and effort in coaching the team – your support and encouragement made all the difference.

We’re so proud of the way the girls played with spirit and determination throughout the day!

🏅Special Mention: Livi at State Cross Country

Livi State 768x1024

A big congratulations to Livi, who achieved her ultimate goal of making it to State for Cross Country. Livi finished in an incredible 17th place.

We’re all so proud of her achievements here at Holy Spirit.

Go Livi!

A Cake Stall Full of Christmas Cheer – In July

Cake Stall 769x1024
Year 6 Leaders getting ready to sell some cakes

Last Friday (25th) we celebrated a bit of Christmas in July with our Mid-Year Christmas Cake Stall — and what a festive treat it was!

From velvet cupcakes to rocky road, our stall was brimming with delicious delights lovingly baked by our wonderful school community.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our parents and students, we raised $564.75, with all funds going towards the final contribution for the adventure playground.

A big thank you to everyone who baked, bought, or simply stopped by. Your support helped make this a truly joyful event!
