Social Justice Leaders Promote the Carlton Respects Message

On Friday 29 May, our Social Justice Leaders, Maria and Antony, visited classrooms to speak with students about the Carlton Respects Game, which was played that evening at the MCG against Geelong.

As part of this special match, Carlton players wore orange socks and a specially designed guernsey. Orange is the international colour for harmony and symbolises the promotion of respect and equality for women.

Through their classroom visits, Maria and Antony helped raise awareness of the importance of treating everyone with respect and working together to create a safe and inclusive community.

Full credit to Antony for posing for this photo, despite being a loyal Collingwood supporter!

He put the rivalry aside, knowing that the Carlton Respects Road to Respect message was far more important than a few moments of Magpie discomfort. To top it off, the Blues celebrated a victory over Geelong that night!

SRC Promise

As SRC members, we promise to make our school a better place. We will do this by following our school values of Respect, Safety, and Responsibility.

We will continue to use kind words and show good manners at all times.

We will listen to everyone’s ideas and make sure every student’s voice is heard.

We will be strong school leaders by helping each other, treating everyone equally, including others, standing up for one another, and taking action when needed.

Special Mention

chelsea & alexia

Congratulations to Chelsea and Alexia, who represented Holy Spirit at the Division Cross Country on Thursday 4 June.

Alexia put in a fantastic effort to finish 15th in the 9/10 girls event, and Chelsea came an impressive 5th in the 11 years girls event.

Chelsea has now qualified for Regionals on 17 June.

We wish her all the best!

School World Cup Fever!

We are excited to announce that our school will have its own World Cup competition. There are 12 World Cup groups, and each of our six classes has been allocated two groups to follow throughout the tournament.

  • Junior Z:  Group H and A
  • Junior S:  Group I and F
  • Middle M: Group K and C
  • Middle T:  Group G and L
  • Senior E:  Group D and B
  • Senior D: Group J and E

The class whose team goes on to win the World Cup will be crowned our School World Cup Champions and will win a fantastic World Cup soccer ball.

To help everyone learn more about the game, we have also added some exciting new books to our library featuring famous soccer players from around the world.

Our school’s FIFA Officials – Chloe, Jack O, Niamh, Jimmy, Lucas R and Jack R – will keep everyone updated on which teams progress to the next rounds of the tournament.

We look forward to seeing plenty of excitement, teamwork and sportsmanship as we celebrate the world’s biggest sporting event together. Students were reminded that, whether playing soccer or any other sport, a good sportsperson plays fairly, shows respect for others and works together as part of a team.

With Australia competing on the world stage, we wish the Socceroos all the best.

Go Australia!

First Eucharist

first eucharist fi

On Saturday, 30 May, a number of our Grade 4 students celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist.

It was a beautiful, warm and prayerful celebration, shared with family, friends and members of our parish community.

The students were incredible throughout the preparation process and on the day itself, demonstrating reverence, confidence and a deep appreciation for this important milestone in their faith journey.

A particular highlight of the celebration was the joyful Lebanese drumming that accompanied the conclusion of the Mass as the candidates left the church, creating a wonderful atmosphere of celebration and community.

Fr. Shabin would also like to extend his congratulations to our candidates and their families. Following the celebration, he contacted the school to express how beautiful the Mass was and to commend the students on the way they participated in this special sacramental occasion.

We are extremely proud of our First Eucharist candidates:

  • Ethan Casauria
  • Annie Dinh
  • Elijah Henderson
  • Chahid Kairouz
  • Sami Kairouz
  • Cooper Robertson
  • Jazmina Souki
  • Deeb Sukkar
  • Harrison Madigan

We congratulate each of these students and pray that they continue to grow in faith and in their relationship with Jesus through the Eucharist.
